hi,
just been reading the last topic on double glazing and noticed it veered off towards SIPS. rather than continuing on that post ,thought I might start one specific to SIPS.
Anyway I notice somebody said they have NO disadvantages .
My question is what about when people wish to change openings (size and or positions?).
Can SIPS accommodate these inevitable changes ?

Great thermal properties.
But
Have to work off standard sizes
Less flexibility with chasing services (but many have pre-designed channels)
Needs to have lightweight cladding - less choices
Less trades happy to use themPosted Friday 2 Jul 2010 @ 7:22:16 am from IP # -
yes ,as I said how do you make changes later ?
everybody KNOWS that most houses sooner or later change owners ,who often want to make changes to doors ,windows ,walls etc.
A huge part of sustainability (VERY OFTEN OVERLOOKED) is life cycle analysis. ie .what happens to buildings after they are built ... the adaptability of housing.
This is where many of these new construction systems look good on paper but may not be so great through time .Posted Friday 2 Jul 2010 @ 10:00:37 am from IP #
