Hi all,
I'm in Canberra and considering a heat pump HWS. Specifically, the Dux Airoheat Subzero system. My main concern is the noise level, which I would like to hear in person before committing to purchase. Is there anyone here in Canberra who has one of these installed who would be willing to let me see it in person? My name is Chris and my phone no. is 02 6100 6491.

FYI, I ended up purchasing one without hearing it in person beforehand. Some of the promotional material suggested it was only as loud as a fridge. I would describe it more like a bathroom exhaust fan than a fridge. The noise is similar to a standard reverse-cycle unit, but a little quieter. It has only been on for a couple of hours a day at most (family of 3, in summer).
I'm happy with it because the location isn't near any bedroom windows. I wouldn't want to install one near a bedroom window (either yours or your neighbour's).

Paid $3400 for it from bunnings and had our plumber install it for ~$350. It has the same connections as a standard electric tank.

Can I make a suggestion? At the ATA Conference & Exhibition in Darling Hbr, Sydney, recently, we spoke to a company who produce a heat pump HWS + it is an airconditioner. They didn't have the heat pump HWS on display - only the air conditioner- which we wanted to buy on the spot - beautiful cool air, cheap to run, I think it cost approx $900 just for the air con split system.
Very low Watts.
Trouble is we have lost the info on it, can't find it on the the ATA site anywhere. I remember they are based in Melbourne - Aussie made, and were only just branching up to NSW/ACT.
It would be helpful for ATA to list all sponsors/stalls/exhibitors online for these purposes!

i bought one for $2090 after the REC discount
then i filled out my gov rebate form for $1600
it cost me 300 dollars for a plumber to install it - they need to sign the form
i didn't need an electrician i am one
all up it cost $790 for a 250L airoheat water tank
you can barely hear it
being in far north queensland it barely takes any electricity to heat the water anyway. after a week i found that the tank uses about 1 Kwh per day for three people. you can despite what is said, install it on the economy tarif, chances are you'll be using the water during the night anyway.
still waiting for my cheque from the government. in fact you might say that kev's money has paid for the tank, the 900 tax payback from kev has meant that the tank is free with a bit of money left over.
oh yes as these things are manufactured in australia, the factories overhere are probably very busy, i ordered mine the day after the new rebate was announced.
