Hello,
I have rented houses all my life and move often, hence installing solar at my own place is not yet feasible.
However, I've also been considering installing solar on my parent's place, so I'd pay up front costs and maintenance costs. They'd get a cleaner energy source, cheaper energy and I'd get some income.
I'd love to hear thoughts and experiences on this from other forum members or 'models' I could read up on. These sites were useful for different models or approaches: https://www.solarquotes.com.au/blog/solar-for-renters/ and one 3rd party who helps mediate such arrangements: http://ecosupply.com.au/
In particular I'd like to know:
- what sort of gear the installer would need to provide (and you'd recommend) to monitor energy production and usage)?
- different arrangements that worked or did not work, for example, does the user pay only for the energy used or also all or part of feed in tariffs?
- anything else I need to think about in terms of financial or practical mechanics that's unique to such an arrangement?
- anything you'd recommend I read?
Apologies if this has been discussed already, I couldn't find anything that quite hit the mark.
Thanks for any contributions.
PS. One more resource http://matter.solar/ though there were a few negative comments on them too.
