Here on Norfolk Island we get bouts of extremely humid weather sometimes lasting a few days, other times a week or two. When this happens, things start to grow mould pretty bad. I've lived in Brisbane and thought it was rather humid, but this is far worse than anything I have experienced there. Google tells me that mould grows best where there is minimal light and air-flow, and this has certainly been my experience! My clothes in the closet will grow mould, and now I've noticed the same applies to our walk-in pantry! We're talking things like pots, pans, clean jars, plastic containers, and empty drink bottles - they start growing mould both inside and out!!
Does anyone have any suggestions on a way around this - besides using an electric dehumidifier?
Things located outside the pantry seem to be fine - so I'm wondering if I should consider putting a window in the pantry to let in some (indirect) light and allow the air to circulate a bit...thoughts? Other ideas?
