Looking for ideas to cool tin shed in summer, as economically as possible. Situated on SA coast, latitude about 35 deg. Has a mild climate generally, but always has a few spells of 38 deg and over every summer. Ideas I have considered are painting the roof and/or insulating roof and walls with second hand materials. Shed has large double sliding doors opening to east, one of which is fixed in place, and a standard door opening to west. Usual gaps for sheds between roof and walls. On hot days inside temp is several degrees hotter than outside. The ridge line runs north south.
Many thanks, John

This seems to be good stuff, too (a woodworker needs to protect his materials in the shed):

Save up and do it properly.
I have used 'air cell' with great results, no fibres, wide sheets.
It needs a 40mm gap between the sheeting and itself. Gr8 for retro ceilings.
Building blanket on the roof works well, but its best to remove the roofing when fitting it.
I used some recently on a roof, 6m x 8m it cost $176Posted Saturday 24 Feb 2018 @ 10:17:55 pm from IP #
