   I've installed a 3kw solar system plus a solar HWS. The meter box also has a Tariff 33 for ducted air/con and hws.
   Could someone please explain to me in plain english how the Tariff 33 kicks in. I have had so many conflicting stores I'm quite confused.

   I was informed that in Qld Ergon pays you 44c. When you use solar, you pay them 22c but if you use Tariff 33 its only 12 cents provided you comply with the restrictions. So if I have the Tariff 33 HWS ON AT THE METER BOX - IS THIS USED FIRST? IF NOT, WHY NOT.

   Appliances that are hard-wired/connected to T33 "Electricity supply is available for at least 18 hours per day on Tariff 33 and is switched via load control equipment supplied and maintained by the electricity distributors Ergon Energy and ENERGEX.
   The specific times of supply are at the distributors’ discretion due to regional and seasonal differences. As a general rule of thumb, supply will be restricted around residential network peak times; 6am-9am and 4pm-8pm."

   In exchange for these restrictions you get cheaper electricity than the regular T11/T12 pricing.
   There's also T31 night rate.

   When you use your own solar PV energy it costs you either nothing or the forsaken income for not exporting it (depending on how you look at it).
   Any excess energy is exported into the grid and they pay you for that.
   If there is a shortfall and you import energy you pay them for that.

   Solar PV paid is net of your total imported energy.

   The QLD rates are up for some huge increases so hang on to your n---s!

   Not quite, yes it is for Tariff 11, but not for tariff 33.
   Any Tariff 33 consumption is charged at the applicable tariff rate, even if it during the day, when the solar PV panels are exporting, but it doesn't affect the amount being exported. So if your solar PV system is exporting 1000w and you turn the pool pump which uses 1000w using tariff 33, then your export is unaffected, so you will be earning 44c/hour, but then get charged approx 12c/hour for the tariff 33. So you profit by 32c/hour.
   But if you have the pool pump connected to tariff 11, using same figures (1000w)as above, then you are neither exporting nor importing, so zero cost/gain for that hour of operation.
   So in summary, if you have solar PV, connect as much appliances to tariff 33, as it maximises your export capability during the day.
   BTW, Origin feed-in tariff pays 50c/kwh, AGL pays 52c/kWh.
