I got 4 quotes when I bought my system, and the only system with flat plate collector, actually was the most expensive by around $800, and it only had a vitreous enamel tank. All system quotes were split, so the split ET systems were way cheaper.
This is my point exactly, you can say what you want in statistics and hide detail etc, but the proof is in the pudding. If you go try buy one and see what the real customer price is, then you are talking real dollars and not some academic guff. I have heard that "apparently" flat panel is way cheaper but have yet to see that in real life buying. I dont suggest that all flat panel systems are way dearer either, just making a point to all those who say such things. I suspect that they are all priced in packages similar in the same area or they wouldnt be able to sell them. Then it comes down to performance.
What I do know is;
The price of my system
How well it works
Pricing of my replacement panel parabolic mirror evac tubes ($520)
The pricing of some replacement flat panels (expensive see postings)
price of a flat panel system (see posting0
Output of my 6 tube panel (620kWh av)
Output of a Flat panel Chromagen CC A/F CR-120 (481kWh)
Output of a flat panel Chromagen CC-A CR-120 Blue (477 kWh)
Note: Output for flat panels per the site posted above, used these flat panels panels as I believe they are typical of what is offered in Aus, correct me if I am wrong and tell me what is offered here as standard package and output.
I am going to go out today and get a price in a similar system to mine in the local area and see the cost difference and do a comparison.
it will be interesting
