I have recently purchased a 20 year old new place which is marvellous, but needs a lot of green upgrading. High on the list is adding a second pane of glass to the many many (did I say many?)windows. All frames are timber shaped such that adding a second pane on the inside with an air gap of 10-15mm is a simple task. My plan is simple, buy low-e panes and add them with the treated side of the pane facing out. It seems pretty straight forward - what have I missed? Exceptions are the wind-out windows which I was considering perspex to address weight issues, and as to the big glass doors... still working on that one.
Any comment or advice, gotchas, or recommendations for glaziers in the Bathurst NSW area would be very much appreciated.
