Hi.. we are interested in underground pumps... they are popular in France where we lived before for heating ... does anyone know any good places to get advice in tas? thanks

Air temperature is usually not so cold here that the extra cost of installing the ground loops is worthwhile. An air sourced heat pump may be more cost effective. There have been articles in ReNew and Sanctuary on this.

Yes, basically, you will not recover the much higher cost to install a ground source heat pump in energy savings over the life of the system. They are not really worth installing here, especially considering the efficiency of the better reverse cycle air cons, which can easily exceed a CoP of 5.
