Hi
It is said in just about every forum and solar/off grid website on the internet that gas should be used before electricity for cooking and heating and hot water.
I think that is likely right for many but for single person or maybe a couple , electricty may well be a better choice.
12 volt cooking appliances use little power and a 12 volt hot water system could also be highly useable if your needs are small (IE a shower a day may be all that is needed.)
You may find that the total power needed for a single person for cooking and hot water could be as little as 300 to 400 watt hours a day for 2 cooked meals and a shower.
Heating would likley need to be gas though if not too cold a location it MIGHT be possible with a big enough battery bank.
Hot water can be normal from solar for many of course.
If you linger in a shower for half an hour or cook a kilo steak each meal though it will not work. You can go the other way too though and have cold showers (or use camping showers heated by the sun) or cook on a fire.
Then again, some people just want an electric wok or induction cooker and be off grid.
