My folks are looking to add a radiant heat barrier to some westerly windows. Has anyone used Renshade http://www.concertinafoilbatts.com/renshade.htm

Eskimoau I've used renshade (since last summer) on some poorly placed west facing windows and the heat reduction seems to be substantial. I've also used it under clear polycarbonate sheeting. External shading is still probably the best option but I'm more than pleased with the use of renshade. I think there are places (manufacture blinds / curtains etc) that will make internal roller blinds using renshade.

I have also used Reneshade on a couple of NW facing windows and thought it did a pretty good job. I cut pieces to fit the windows and used the velcro tabs supplied to fix it to the window. It let a bit of light through the holes also. I also have external shade cloth shading on these window which I had before I put the Reneshade on and I think the Reneshade still helped. cheers Simon

I've looked up and got pricing for a similar, but pricy product.
http://www.inflector.com.au
Small holland blinds were around $400, but could be rotated for summer/winter applications (was in last ReNew Mag). I will look into renshade as an alternative.Has anyone out there used either renshade or inflector with Holland Blinds? Would appreciate your feedback or suggestions.

I applied this stuff yesterday, and let my crappy late 80s/early 90s el-crap vertical venetians open to test their performance. It seems to block sun OK, but it wasn't that hot yesterday (26C), maybe later this week. However it did seem to cut down radiant heat, though would probably need a decent room temperature gauge to test this experiment.
So far so good, but thwey velcro-stick on option look real ugly at night when you can't see through the holes and just see foil on yr windows!
The Holland roll-up option seem to be the best. They could make alot of money out of this technology if the bogans cottoned onto it, especially with all those poorly built houses in outer (and gentrified inner) suburbs that have been built over the last 20 years!
Just make it cheaper than a Plasma TV and 4WD and comparative mainstream produced crap, and they will eat it up!

We have it at work on an unshaded west facing window- it had a minor effect but nowhere near as much as an external shade. It also looks pretty awful from inside but that is only a subjective opinion!
