   As NSW has Gross Metering PV FIT, you are metered for import and export power at the same time, its technically possible to rig up a 230ac to 250-350dc (MPPT Inverter Range) feed into Inverter input.
   example you pay 22c for kw/hr from your power point and you get 66kw/hr for what you export, its not too hard to rig up such a set up for $200-300, im suprised this scam has not come to light sooner?

   If you have an interval meter (which I understand most PV solar installations do), then this sort of fraud is likely to get caught. With some auditing you could detect that the output vs time of day doesn't match that expected from a PV solar system with the declared number of panels.

   It is also tied to a particular property, with the property owner being responsible.

   you would hope they are intelligent to have programmed your expected daily capacity into their billing system, since they know exactly what hardware you have on premises.... and if you suddenly start producing more than feasible they would know...although judging by the fact they recently try to bill me for my solar output (rather than credit me) nothing would be surprise me.

   Profiteering by energy suppliers is likely to increase with any excuse such as the carbon tax being blamed. Not just here it seems. The UK is going through similar problems. Get ready for the next round of price increases.
