Have a small "Orange" pump (HT100PM) with PC1 controller. I think its now superceded and they only mention a PM1 pressure switch on their website but it looks very similar. $170 just for a new switch!
A few weeks ago the pump would internittently just stop working - all 3 lights on the controller off. Had to switch it off for a few minutes, then back on, press reset (on controller not pump) and it would go again for a few days. Now it won't go at all. The power led and red "fault" led are lit but pressing reset won't get it going.
I pulled it all apart and can't see anything wrong. There are 2 reed switches on the cct board and both seem OK - open circuit and go closed when a magnet is near. Relay looks OK. If I connect mains directly to the motor it runs fine. There is a plunger attached to the pressure bladder which obviously has a magnet on the end - when this is placed near the appropriate reed switch it operates it - so I guess this is what turns it off at correct pressure. The other reed switch looks like it is triggered by a magnet connected to a float/flow valve and I suspect this magnet is too weak to close the reed switch. Should this valve stop the pump when there is no flow ? This float/flow valve is in the vertical output line and so I presume will be up/open when the water is flowing and fall down/close when the flow stops (and pressure is high).
My next plan is to short cct the flow detecting reed relay (or apply another magnet to it) and try to press reset again.
Any other ideas ? Anyone one know what state the 2 reed switches should be in for the pump to start ie both closed and one going open will stop pump - or both need to be open ?
Whats wrong with my pressure pump controller ?
