Hi, I don't work for Tesla but I want to buy one however need a commercial premises in Wangaratta that is willing to host a charging station. It would help if it were in the commercial centre of the town but not essential. It won't be a Supercharger but it will be a Level 2 80A service. Installation will be at no cost to you although you will pay for the power, however of course you'll get the preferred business from Tesla customers. Exciting times ahead for EVs
Looking for a Tesla charging station host in Wangaratta

Cool.
Have they come up with a price for your Tesla yet? I've heard everything from $90k to $200k+
I'd like one, but it's a bit big and it has too much range lol!

No prices yet although a ballpark of around $105k for an 85kW/hr model seems a consensus figure. 2.5 times what I've spent on a car in the past but much lower ongoing running costs will claw lots of that back.

I wish you all the luck in the world.
However recalling how difficult I found it to find a standard 240V plug to charge my scooter...and this was in Ballarat, Wangaratta is even further removed from anywhere! And the model S is still primarily a toy for the rich, as I imagine the next model will be.
If there are any environmental/sustainability community groups there I would suggest them. Perhaps you could convince a local petrol station to give it a go as you are on the Melb-Syd route. You may be footing a substantial part of the bill.
Seriously though I hope you pull it off

Tesla will pay for the installation, not me. I'm not rich and don't see it as a toy, but when I compare $10 to 'fill' the Tesla v $90 to fill my ICE car and use a couple of tanks of petrol a week then the Tesla purchase will hurt to buy but pay for itself over the next 10 years.
The next model has a target of US$35k purchase price and so won't be a toy, however as I'll be commuting regularly between Melbourne and NE Vic it just won't quite have the range. I'll have a charger in my house 80km from Wangaratta but that's not convenient for people doing the Melbourne-Sydney routePosted Monday 19 May 2014 @ 8:21:58 am from IP # -
Let us know how you go when its delivered - I understand deliveries should start in the next 3 months.
You refer to the "Next Model" which is the Model X. I've read that it is expected to be a similar price to the Model S? The 3rd Gen model, which has not been designated a name/letter yet is projected to be US$30's, but this is years away. (2017/2018 I'd guess for LHD). Anyway, I hope Tesla continue to amaze! (me and a few others at least). EV's will never convince some people, but hey - we don't need to.
A Petrol station is the obvious location from an availability point of view but I can not imagine a business model that goes from charging $90 to $0. The oil companies have an atrocious record on investment and technology enhancement when it involves anything other than dead dinosaurs, (despite what their glossy adverts might have us think).
....Sorry rant over
Good luck with your search

Sorry, by 'next model' I mean the Generation III. Tesla plan to introduce the Model X that is a SUV version of the S in the next 12 months (in the US), then a smaller Gen III, then a 'pickup', their version of the F150! It'll sell well in the US. The Gen III is pitched as a mass market car with sales of around 500,000. Ambitious, but they are building a huge battery factory to supply the required batteries as sales are limited by battery supply at the moment even with the 25,000 per year Model S. Elon Musk does have a habit of succeeding.
Given the recharge time, Tesla usually locate their chargers in shopping centres, restaurants etc rather than petrol stations, you'd have to sell it to them on the basis of people spending money on their shit food waiting for a recharge. Better to be able to wander around the town.

Thanks for the reply and clarification - while not in petrol stations I did see charging points in motorway service areas in the UK last year - probably following your model of the attraction of high quality food
As an alternative have you tried the council? Perhaps providing a charging location would be a draw to tourists? It would be so unique they could get themselves a spot on TV as being progressive etc.
I did not say in my previous post but even I find it hard to expect the service to be free. At about 50C/kWh for peak electricity a "fill up" should be costing a few dollars? I know Elon has the supercharger stations "Incredibly fast. Always free." but will they ever install any in Australia?

That's the catch 22, the whole attraction of Teslas is that they are 'ordinary cars' (of course with extraordinary power plants) that can be used like any ICE car. Tesla is installing Superchargers across the US, Asia and Europe, free for the lifetime of the car. The problem here though is that we won't get the volume without the Superchargers and won't get the Superchargers without the volume. They'll certainly have to be here for the Gen III but I suspect that the rollout will be slower here. I will try the Council

Doubt Tesla will put in a charger in Wangaratta unless they build a complete network from Sydney to Melbourne. Even Chargepoint doesn't have a location in that area:
https://www.chargepoint.net.au/charge_point
I can't see the Tesla under $130k here, but who knows, there are a bunch of people who have placed deposits and have been waiting years...

Tesla will put a charger in Wangaratta, that's why I'm posting the enquiry here. They won't put in Superchargers at this stage I believe but will provide charge points between Melbourne and Sydney.

JJ, Tesla have confirmed today that from 2015 they will be building a Supercharger network in Australia

Wow that is good news. I guess the major cities would be fist then perhaps the Mel-Syd Sdy- Bris routes? I wonder when we will be able to drive across the Nullaboor? 8).
It also looks like the 2 Gigafactories are going to make a step change in the availability and cost of the battery packs which really need to happen to reduce the capital outlay.
