   Very interesting learning about the various influences that determine an emerging cyclone's size and tracking. Some possible landfall areas south of Cairns are expecting king tides in the next few days.

   Heavy rain here this morning as I wet season arrives on schedule. Looks like Bowen to our north will bear the brunt of TC Dylan.

   This time last year we had 550mm rain in 36hrs as TC Oswald headed south.

   Dylan hit land and quickly died. The rain expected in the drought areas will be much less than anticipated.

   We got 255mm here 40km from the coast. About 30% of our average annual rainfall.

   More cyclones off the coast so all is not lost as far as the drought affected areas are concerned.
