I can't seem to find anyone who sells uninsulated water tanks to be used as a tempering tank before my hot water system. I didn't want to use an old hot water tank because I thought that the anode rod would be stuffed in most of them and would probably leak within a year or two. Do I just ring hot water tank manufacturers and see if they will sell me one without insulation?

Second hand beer keg? Cast off 200 litre plastic food drum? Length of 150mm PVC pipe in ceiling space? Depends on your space. What about exposed copper pipe high up in a room on its way to HWS inlet instead of tempering tank?

Unless there is a good source of heat I cant see how an enclosed tank will help much. I would go a long the lines of a heat exchanger, so as the above post indicates, lengths of pvc or better copper pipe. Maybe a well cleaned car radiator, or maybe room radiator could be used. Have to think about water quality of course.

I like the radiator idea . It will be placed above a fireplace that runs 8 months of the year.i have evacuated tubes connected to the main hot water tank
