Hi , I live in the South of South Australia , We need heating at least 8 months
of the year .
We are building a new house with the kitchen, living, dining and games room all
in a long room of 20m x 5 m facing north with double glazed windows ,this area
will be polished concrete .
We get some good sunny days during the winter and we hope that will heat our concrete
a fair bit , we don't like the idea of having UFH as it stays on all the time .
We had been reading a fair bit about hydronic wall panels ( radiators ) and
had come to like that choice over the others until I recently discovered Thermaskirt .
Has anybody used Thermaskirt in Australia ?
I have watched a heap of youtube videos about it , and it is tempting .
My wife would love something she can stand next to and warm up at night , but I am
not sure if I want hot a cold spots through out this long room .
any tips would be much appreciated .
Regards
Brett

I too am preparing to to build a new house in South Australia (Adelaide Hills) with hydronic heating and i am interested in this product.I read some of your other recent posts. How will you power your system? Gas? Heat pumps?

Sorry MrGreen, i realised my main living rooms will not have enough wall space to accommodate enough skirting to heat the room (lots of glass to floor) so I am no longer interested in the product. However, here is another forum about it;

some bad comments, some good.I notice "heat2o" in Adelaide are an installer for this product. You could ask heat2o for names/addresses of people who have had it installed and ask them how well it operates.
Good Luck. jtb

Hi, had it installed in my house after allot of debate and research into our options, Absolutely love it and glad we took the plunge! We went with the gas boiler, but we were also looking at the option of using a heat pump and think this could be a good option for people without mains gas supply. Showed it to my friends and clients, they are now having it installed. The good thing is that it can be retro fitted reasonably easily where underfloor is harder to retrofit.
We have a large amount of floor to ceiling glass in our open plan living/dining/kitchen area giving us no options really for installing panel radiators anyway. We found that the ThermaSkirt still managed to keep the room cozy this last winter. They installed the ThermaSkirt under our kitchen units on the front of the kick board and we can't even tell it is there.
We did come across a few negative comments when we were doing our research prior to go ahead with this option but found that most of this was down to incorrect installation. Due to this I would recommend that you look at getting it installed by someone who knows what they are doing. We used ThermaSkirt Australia who use their own installation teams and we were very happy with the outcome and finished product. Let me know if you would like me to post some pics of my house and I'll take a few for you. Hope this helpsPosted Thursday 19 Nov 2015 @ 6:11:12 am from IP #
